Why is Transition So Hard?

When life serves you up a heaping portion of change it’s hard.

But why is transition so hard?

One reason is that we derive *comfort* from the known. Outside the comfort of the familiar we must navigate new norms, new relationships and new challenges. New versions of SELF.

Inside the “known zone” we have it all nailed down. We know what to expect and how to react. What's needed of us and what isn’t.

(And we do this even if that comfort is in something unhappy, unhealthy or unproductive. This explains why so many of us stay in terrible jobs or relationships well past the expiration date…moving outside of that requires so much of us! It even explains why some of us stay in a state of chaos rather than do what is needed to move out of that…because it is a known--i.e., comfortable--chaos!)

Change is hard because fear narrates what we see of the future:

💔 No one will be there for me.

💔 Everyone will judge me.

💔 I’ll lose everything.

💔 I don’t know how.

💔 What if I fail?

💔 I will regret this.

Fear keeps us small and safe, even if that means we are safely unhappy and unfulfilled.

Believe me. I know this. I experienced this.

I stayed in my comfort zone, my cocoon, for a very long time, afraid of what the future might bring. Afraid to admit even to myself that I needed to move into transition, into change, into my truth.

I don't regret it, I really don't. I learned things there that I needed to learn.

But. And...ultimately change had to happen.

🦋 This butterfly had to emerge from her cocoon. She couldn't stay in there forever.

“The prompts really spoke to me and gave me a point of entry. They were the guide and the support I needed to step into this river of emotion without feeling afraid I might never step out again.”

~ Linda Beth G.

Sometimes we know we have to step into that river of emotion. Having a guide to hold onto makes a huge difference in our confidence and comfort.

What if I told you you could step into that river with me and with a circle of tender-hearted, non-judgmental, longing-for-creativity folx who are in the midst of transition too?

Just like you.

What if I told you you could:

♥ Make art from your transitions with basic art supplies

♥ Share your stories and your art in a safe and sacred space

♥ Laugh and cry with others who really know what you're going through

What if I told you you could MOVE FORWARD in your life?

The Way of Transition is a powerful way through. And it is open to you.

If this is speaking to you, send me an email or book a Discovery Call!

And, if you think someone you love would benefit from The Way of Transition (it’s online, distance is no problem), share this post with them!

Thank you!
