Keep On Keeping On

It's been a minute since I last sent you a missive. And that doesn't mean I haven't been thinking about you! I have, I promise.

But life has been life-ing, as we now say. In a big way. And honestly, sometimes there's just SO much that it's really hard to decide what to say...what to focus on...what to share...

Sometimes you just need to breathe.

Since I last wrote to you, my youngest son, Toby, and I went on a two week adventure in Greece. It was fantastic and fun and mind-expanding. And because I was with my now-25-year-old baby, it was heart-expanding as well.

We visited my friend Marina, who I met in my expressive arts training program nine years ago. She lives in Athens and we were able to enjoy living in the heart of that incredible city for a few days with her! We then traveled around the mainland to Delphi, Parga, Vitsa (the Zagori region), Meteora, and back to Athens. Along the way we also visited Thebes, Galaxidi, Nafpaktos, and Ionnina. We never set foot on an island and still saw such gorgeous natural vistas and ancient sites. Ate well too! (Note: Greece is far more than just islands!)

While we were away Mary was on her own adventure in Poland. (Side note: We flew out the same day and flew home the same day. Our flights took off and landed within an hour of each other! And we were literally texting each other from our airplane seats while flying across the globe!) She is a student of the Holocaust, just because she is passionately interested in all of it. And she spent two deep weeks learning, absorbing, driving, reading, and asking questions.

Our trips were pretty much polar opposite experiences. But both were so meaningful and unforgettable.

While we were gone my mom had to have a cornea transplant surgery. From which she had complications and had to have another, emergency, surgery.

ALL OF THIS TO SAY: Life is often a pile up of events. Some good, some bad. Some easy, some hard.

How do you navigate? How do you stay centered? How how how???

I have truly been struggling with anxiety at all time high levels lately. I've thought a lot about making art ― my go-to stress reliever ― but haven't made much. I brought my art supplies with me to Greece but only took them out a few times.

What has been giving me some inner grace lately, however, has been reading! Reading about making art, developing an art practice, goddess archetypes, caring for my heart and soul...these are some of my favorite reads lately. But also...some juicy fiction. That's definitely diverting!

I hope that whatever you have going on in your life, you are finding ways to balance the highs and lows. And just know I'm thinking of you and all the ways that I can offer my own support to you through creativity!
